On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am pleased to invite you to attend our 33rd Annual California Association of Pretrial Services (CAPS) Training Conference which will be held on May 22, 2019 – May 24, 2019, at the Cliffs Hotel and Spa, Pismo Beach, California.

This year, our conference theme is “Senate Bill 10: A Framework for Pretrial Justice in California.” We will kick off the conference on Wednesday, May 22nd. For May 23rd – May 24th, we are very excited to get tremendous support from the National Institute of Corrections, National Association of Pretrial Services and State Pretrial Leaders to present on current issues effecting the field, including:

• Senate Bill 10
• Local and State Pretrial Program Enhancements
• Risk Assessment Tool
• Supervision Model
• Leadership.

Conference registration will be available on May 22nd from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

To be eligible for CAPS Membership Conference Rate, membership fee of $30.00 must be received by Monday, April 22, 2019. No refunds are available after May 1, 2019.

Training Conference Scholarships
There will be three (3) Scholarships available for CAPS Members in good standing (current with their membership dues). The scholarship includes conference registration fee and one night’s stay at the hotel. To apply, please submit a letter stating why you would like to be a scholarship recipient and how you would benefit from this conference. The letter must include your position, your employer and time in service as a pretrial practitioner. The letter must be submitted, no later than Monday, April 22, 2019, to:

Luncheon and Annual Meeting
Due to terms of office and retirements, nominations will be held for the following three (3) Board positions: Vice-President, Secretary, and Regional Director Northern I. The nominator and the candidate must be a CAPS member in good standing.

We, the Board of Directors, continue to work diligently to provide you the best training conference on a yearly basis. As we continue this conversation regarding bail reform, we look forward to seeing you in May 2019.
